On Sunday evening a friend of mine brought over a Nanday Conure to us (we have other birds) She/He is soo sweet looking (not to touch yet though lol) She is not as loud as the jenday we had and seems pretty scared. She was told that she was his/her 7th owner and so that makes us the 8th owners, we have decided that no matter what he/she will stay with us for life. The hatch date on the leg band shows 97. so she is no spring chicken (pun intended) lol
I will have to get a picture of him/her to show you all! The name it had when we got it was Tigger but it doesnt suit him/her to me and so I changed it to Maya (its a vampires name in a book I was reading at the time we adopted him/her)

If anyone is near VA or even northern NC and had a good sized cage for sale cheap let us know as the cage I have her in now isnt big enough in my opinion!

Edited to add a picture of Maya:

Wow! Very pretty bird. Nice colors. I want one but my dad cant stand the noise my cockatiel makes so no more indoor birds for me....

We have 5 birds now down from 12 last summer, word got around that I would take in unwanted birds, and all of a sudden I had way to many, I didnt turn any away, I kept them long enough to make sure that they were VERY healthy then I rehomed them with friends and family.

How cute

I had a Sun Conure not too long ago (she died

) and she was a hoot! When I would wash dishes, she would fly to the sink for a bath.

I have lots of cages...if you lived close to me. My dh built all of my parrot cages, I never bought one. If you have a handy dh, get him to make you one and it will be a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a parrot cage.

Ahh I wish Chris was handy like that, now give him a car or truck and he can rebuild the motor blindfolded but give him a saw and wood and its a foreign language! He has gotten SO much better since we have been together when we first met he had NO idea what a 2x4 was lol Now he did build my coops and all so I cant complain to much huh?

I wish I was close I have a parrot cage that needs a bird. My friend, lil horse on BYC, has the most handsome blue macaw, she gave me his old cage becuase she knows I want a parrot so much. I will have one one day. Good luck with your new baby.

Oh how I wish you were closer! The nanday is not as mean as I was told, she let us get her out of the cage and stepped up multiple times w/o any aggression! I am SO excited about that!! lol

very pretty bird.
I wish I was closer also Ihave tons of parrot cages.
I just got 2 in for foster a Severe and a Hanns Macaw.
loud noisy racouse I just love them. well with exception the the Hanns, what a stinker she is. bites like a whirling dirvish. hates women but loves the the Severe hates men but loves women. both are extremely cage territorial.
for the moment a squirt bottle keeps them away from my hands while feeding but I am sure once the shock of the water is gotten over it will be back to toss the dish and pull back. lol.
birds are fun, I cant wait for reconstruction to be done on the ceiling so I can let them out to play on their gym.

I wonder if you put them in different cages if it would help? I know that with some of the birds that I have had over the years that just switching their toys, perches around helps! I would LOVE to have the hahns, and my best friend is looking for a Severe lol

I am listening to our Cockatiel now that we got last fall as a rehome because the other owners said he was messy and all he did was scream, well he whistles wolf whistles, jingle bells, revelry, and says pretty bird, cmere. gives kisses and LOVES to be on me at all times! lol he is gorgeous
