new birds

I am after a pair of hens for broody birds (no roosters )

Ah yes, I remember, 2 Sussex? Well I'd just follow the rules to quarantine and intergration but I'd be worried about over crowding for their purpose... Your Sussex won't brood if they feel over crowded and pressured by the other hens, they should be comfortable wmd have a space to call their own, you need at least one nest box per 4 hens but seen as though you want mothers, I'd have 4/5 for your flock of twelve. I've never kept mine in a pen (well, up until next year) and have found broody hens in bushes, neighbours dog kennels, even a folded garden chair in the shed!
