New Breeding Pen

Today's progress...
Partion wire walls partly done...the main part is. I think I'm gonna put a strip of chicken wire up above the 6ft wire to cover the gap between it and the roof. There's a popdoor, so to speak, between each pen section so the sections can be opened up and joined if need be as well.

Also, the building inspector crew did a big walk through today to make sure everything was up to code....

Today's progress....

The wire on the front is on. The only remaining openings on the front are the doorways, and a couple little spots that a piece of plywood will go over. Inside I got one strip of chicken wire at the top of one of the partitions. Put that up on the one that was lined up with one of the rafters and had a good "frame" to nail to....ended up then going ahead and putting a top board on the other 3 walls to have something to nail to...cut one of them upside down, but nailed it in there anyways, no one will ever know but me....Shhhhh....

Your making me feel guilty sheesh....I need to get swinging on my coop. Great job btw! Gave me an idea for my coop ( attach it to an existing building cuts back on having to "build" that 4th wall )

Lean-to style attached to another already existing building seems to be about the only way I like to tackle things...lol Makes an easier starting point.

I should be done quite soon......I hope... The more I do the more details that I discover I need though. lol

The doors on the front, as well as the popdoors between pen sections, 3 more sections of wire fill in on top of the partitions, and cover up the gaps along the front bottom wall, and bottom of partition walls, and it's....done, I think... EXCEPT for, putting in some roost poles...next boxes.....putting up feeders......etc. etc. etc.

It never ends, I tell ya. lol

Oh, and I forgot in my list of things it still needs, gutter on the front.....

I'll have to sell what chicks I hatch with the help of this pen, for approximately $50 each to recoup my costs.

While this pen is not perfect, I am actually pretty pleased with it. It's the first undertaking of its level that I have done all on my own, so I feel a certain sense of pride. LOL
