The kiddoes have outgrown their rubbermade container so we built a new brooder. I painted it today and will give it a second coat tomorrow. How long do I have to let the paint dry/air out before I can put 3 week old chicks in it??? Are paint fumes harmful to chicks?? The paint is exterior grade SW house paint. The brooder is 2'x4' and has an open top.

Thanks

honestly i have no idea but i'm always in the "better safe than sorry" camp when it comes to fumes.
i'd be cautious, especially because you will be warming up the newly painted surface.
are there any other options you can use for at least a few days?
