I just moved my 2 week olds ( 3 RIR and 3 Black Sex-Link) from a 33 gallon tote box to a wire dog kennel. Who knew they would grow so fast. They want so badly to see out and fly. I had no idea they would start to fly so soon. We put some hardware cloth over the tote box after 1 week, now there are no worries about that since it is all enclosed. I zipped tied some cardboard around the edges to help keep the shavings in. I even found some perches at WalMart today and put those in (they haven't discovered those yet. I did put in some small boxes so they can see over the cardboard and they love it.
They live in my back bedroom and so far I have not noticed any unpleasant odors, mostly just pine shavings; and dust, not so much yet.
We just got our hen house delivered today. We still need to put in electrical before it is ready and it's still too cold.
