new broody how many eggs?

High all I was just wondering how many eggs are good for a first time broody? I was going to offer 6 is that enough or too many? This is a buff orpington.

yes that's what I thought too. I think this is a first time but as I sat here I realized I guess it could be one of the girls that was broody in the spring returning to her "hutch". I separated a girl last spring & now *ALL the hens have decided they like this rabbit hutch for egg laying??? LOL Anyway that's where this broody girl is & so I guess she could have returned for more, but this way if she is new 6 eggs won't be too many. & lucky me I was getting ready to poop some in the bator but she's a heck of a lot easier & certainly more reliable....

Ok well hubby's hand got a good pecking putting the eggs in but they're all in there so I'll just cross my finders now.. LOL
