Wanted to say hi from VA and give you some background. My family has been raising chickens in a factory farm setting for almost 40 years. Before we went to factory farm we were small scale dram raising hens before I was born. Some 31 years later I think it is a good decision to raise a backyard flock now that chesterfield county gas passed on zoning for backyards chickens.
I am glad to join the group and share this wonderful experience with my daughters. I will post pics of the coops soon. Thanks,

Thanks for the warm greetings. I am currently working on the coop and run while my girls get big enough. I wanted to show some picks of what we have. With our county just legalizing backyard chickens I had to follow all the ordinances and my wife's too!

We have an extremely sloped lot. At first I was going to do a gazebo roof out on the middle of the yard, but the mrs. didn't go for the idea. She wanted it so where we couldn't see it.

View from the edge of the property.

View of the nesting box. I started with leftover 1/2 ply and then skin it with some redwood siding we had over from the farm. I wanted to make this a little bit sturdier for the girls.

View of the opening for them to walk out of. The door to open and clean it out. This is underneath the screened in porch. Has enough clearance that a 6ft person can walk underneath it.

All that needs to be done is build a door, add the stairs for the chicks, fence it and paint. Will update with last shots.
