Greetings everyone! I am retired military and spent most of my career in California. When I retired, we have been living in imperial Beach California for a little over six years. We are pretty much the last city on the West Coast before you hit Mexico. I don’t see us leaving anytime soon so...
I finally get to be the stay at home mom while my daughters go to high school and my husband goes to work. My latest endeavor brought me to become a California falconer apprentice. It seems a bit contradictory to have chickens as pets when you have bird of prey to hunt. Many falconers raise their own food, but that’s not for me. I love animals and raised that there are some that are friends and some that are food.
A week after Easter, we brought two baby chicks (born on Easter), into our herd—I don’t think I can quite call it a flock because the only birds are those two chicks and the hawk
. We have Barred Rock and Brahma chicks.
I joined because I find such great information on this page. I love all of the DIY ideas also – – I’m one of those kinds of people. Thank you!
