Hey all, been doing a ton of research and since I grew up on online forums, I figured I'd do the same for this hobby.
Planning to acquire all the wood this weekend and start building my coop. I have about 1000sqft dedicated to five hens (about the max I'd ever want to get), the enclosed coop and chicken run will only be about 6'x15'... hopefully that's ok.
The breeds I've found locally at feed stores near me are Buff Orpingtons and Silver Wyandottes. I'm looking to pick up a couple chicks of each.

I'll continue reading around and lurking for a bit.

This is a great site! Learning tons every day.

Welcome to BYC. Check out the 'Coop and Run - design and construction' section of the "Raising Back Yard Chickens" forum. Good luck in your planning.

Sounds like a great plan! I would say you do have enough room for this amount of birds.

Good luck and enjoy all your poultry adventures!
