I have been raiseing ducks for around I think 8 months

and I dont plan to stop!

How many eggs do calls usually lay a year?

Uhh depends on how many they feel like laying and what the weather is! usually nto many but i get hens that will lay like 60 eggs a year or more...

The drake up top is very good quality, look at their heads and stuff you can study the standards online. The whites on the ground are medium sized breeder hens that will lay lots of eggs usualyl the smaller the duck the less they lay. and its hard to get hatchable eggs out of little hens. Wich is what you want to hatch......the tiny calls.

OK, that's IT! You are always posting pics of new Calls and I'm jealous!

That little White male you got is beautiful(Butters, too).
You have some really nice little Calls-a great start to getting your own line going.

The pair
Their bills were WAY to long!

They were bad quality. I traded them for two khaki campbell hens. Then I sold those hens with a drake. And im down to 8 ducks, and going lower

Every day is like your birthday when you KNOW you have new Calls on the way.
It's funny, some people get excited over getting jewelry, new clothes, etc.-for me, if I know I have some new birds coming, I'm like a little kid!
Can't wait to see your more pictures of the new arrivals when they get there!

Here's what I think, while some are show quality and some are pet quality, they are all wonderful, adorable little birds.
While your birds weren't as typey as some, they are still adorable, they are, after all, Call ducks!

You have a very silver appleyard-y looking snowy hen there, very nice...you might want to consider putting a silver appleyard Call drake to her next year, if you have one. I think you could get some nice silver appleyard Calls that way. I myself would like to see the variety make it to the standard in coming years. We need more folks working with them!

PS~ Will you be at the Ohio National?

I do not have a drake, i bought eggs from dennis fuller about 9 years ago and hatched the pair from 2 dozen eggs, i guess there was a lucky silver appleyard egg in there....i did notice she looked that way. but bred to a snowy gave me the same young... so i will look for a silver appleyard drake!

i was planning on going but its a 12 hour drive one way and i allready wen to PA 8 hours to get them from darrel so ill go next year when i can show. Have fun!
