Hi! New at this from Ontario, Canada. In the process of converting an old farm shed into a coop! Appreciate all the tips and tricks I can get! Thanks!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Brand spanking new! No experience. No history. Just trying to follow my ddreams! EXTENSIVE research online a s in facebook grouos/forums etx. Super excited!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None! But I have some ears out for chicks, this the season!

(3) What breeds do you have?

none. But I'm looking at some winter hhardy breeds for the Ontario winter a d a colorful basket! Drawn towards layers, but want to work my way up to dual purpose and meat birds cause my goal is to be as self sufficient as possible.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They're such interesting creatures! Who doesn't want their very own jurrasic park? And gimme all the eggs please ❤

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Reading, gardening, kayaking, road trips

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I own and operate a convenience store and gas station in a very small country town near Ottawa Ontario. My days start early and they're long but I love it because it gave me the opportunity to have a little farm house with a TON of property and no one on sight. From city to country. Its just me, two cats (a lovely long haired Maine coon mix named Meeko, 6yrs, and a devilishly handsome ginger boy named Dexter, 3yrs) and my dog Mr. Magoo (a poodle, border collie, shepherd mix 8yrs) all my boys are foster fails, I would definitely make the same mistake over and over again!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

BYC was reccomended to me by a facebook group! Didn't know about you before hand but thrilled to be able to have a community to turn to!
