I agree that there is a good chance that he may BE using the 'toilet', and just hasn't been there for long enough for it to be evident to your nose. Yet ;>
But since he should go to the vet anyhow, sooner is better than later since the vet can palpate for a full (or overfull) bladder and fullness of colon. If there *were* a problem you would want to know right away, not tomorrow. Also a vet can check to see whether he's chipped and may have an owner out there somewhere.
