Can someone tell me if this is Ok.
Chick hatched out today. Looked fine, but I had to leave for a few hours and this is what the inside of the bator looked like when I returned. I had paper towels down. The long thing in the middle is about a 2" "cord" looking thing. It is a good 1/4-1/2 inch round. I don't know if you can see it very clearly in this pic.

In this pic, you can see how large it is. It is also about 2" long. The chick is doing great and I know this is the yolk sac and cord, but I have never seen one this large or have one make such a mess. Has anyone else seen this?

All you can do is wait.

It looks like it tore the yolk sack causing leakage of the yolk and bleeding.

Try to keep the "cord" from getting pecked or snagged and keep your fingers crossed.

Good luck.

Thank you Wisher1000! She is a lone chicklet so far, so no one to peck at it. I was going to put her in with my broody, but was afraid she would peck at it. She (hoping

) is doing fine. I put a rolled up sock in with her to kinda keep her company. Just put food and water in for her. The "cord" has dried up a lot. Still pretty large though. I know this is a dangerous thing to want to do and I wouldn't do very much, but would it be possible to snip a little of it off on the dried end in a couple of days. It has wood chips stuck to it. The feathers on her head are plastered down with yolk.

I'm going to have to take warm clothe and wipe her down.
