so my day old chick had a rough start. she is very small and not standing all the way yet. She walks 2 steps and sits back down. She keeps falling over and cant turn back to her tummy. Can she die from this if i just leave her in the brooder? My 3 week old chick has taken on the motherly role. I made a sort of nest with a towel. I put in the baby and she went in and is standing over her. Not on her either. the baby is under her and she is standing.
I am afraid if the chick rolls over she could die. I am fascinated that an older chick would do this. I will just have to keep checking on her or bring them both into the house.

Sav a chick is a good vitamin boost or b complex vitamins. Severe wry neck can cause imbalance so can vitamin deficiency, or she might not be formed right.
this is the first time out of 13 chicks. when she was born she didnt thrash around. she just laid there. I had to help her hatch. she wasnt making progress. I did have another chick that never pipped and died in the shell. Probably not related at all. I would hate to loose her. i will give her some vitamins if she will take it.
thank you

chick is walking around and no crooked neck. i think she was just weak. she is also drinking water on her own and chirping away. I did give a little vitamin last night. thank you for your help. Now i know to look for wry neck and possible vitamin deficiency.
