New Chick has arrived, HELP!!

We have had a broody silkie(we did not think anything would come of it) and tonight we heard cheeping and found a newborn chick, eyes open in front of broody. She pulled baby under her and we then put her, the baby and the eggs in a nicely bedded crate with food for mom. We held baby to a cup of water and it seemed to drink, it then went back under broody. Tomorrow we will set up our mini coop(where we have raised purchased chicks nicely and transfer broody, baby and her eggs. What should we do next? I will get some crumble in the am. I thank you in advance.

PS It is hot here so no heat lamp tonight, can it wait till morning to offer crumble?

it doesn't need a lamp if she's under mama. It will be fine without eating until you get chick feed. Congrats!

When should it be able to walk She can stand up but a tad shaky, overall she looks good.

Probably later today, she's never walked before so she'll be a little stumbly.

Thanks for your previous advice. You were 100% correct and not only that check but three others that hatched are all doing beautifully and they’re strong little kids.
