New chick mom here and looking for reassurance.

Hi! I just got chicks for the first time today. They are 10 days old. They were under a heat lamp, but I have a mama heating pad set up instead. None of them are going near it, so I’m a bit concerned about them getting cold. They ate and drank when I first put them in the brooder, but now they are huddled away from the heating pad. Should I be worried? There’s only 4 of them by the way and it’s 74 degrees in my house.

I would try gently herding them/placing them underneath it. They probably aren't sure what it's for and need to be shown that they can get under it.

They are lying on top of it now. I tried getting them underneath but they came right back out.

Well if they prefer they can sit on top as well, as long as they can get warmth from it as needed.

Mine stayed underneath for the first 2 weeks or so, then sat on top for about 2 more.
