Hi all!
I just bought three new baby chicks, they are now about 2 weeks old! I've really enjoyed reading and learning so much from this site! I have my chicks in an over sized rubbermade container with a wooden top covered in hardware cloth. I'm running into an issue with heat in the garage and wonder if it is okay to keep them there or move them inside? The farmer said they do not need a heat lamp in our house (74 degrees) but they seem happier in the warm garage. I live in Florida and the temps reach The high 80s now. I've read drafts are not good for chicks but what if I put a small fan 2 feet away from them?

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

I'd open the garage door to let some air in, but the temps don't seem excessively high to me. The fan is good, rotating and not in their direction, just to keep the air from getting stagnant. IMO. Glad you're here!

You don't want them in your house, bird dust will be everywhere, I know :(
Keeping them in the garage is fine but don't need any heat during the day, make sure they have water. The fan would work as long as it's facing directly at them, the in plastic bin gets even warmer. In the evening then use the heat lamp, read up on the MHP by Blooie.

Thank you! I'm looking into MHP and Blooie now
