I just discovered that one of our Turkens is a BROODY hen, (Tried to sit on duck eggs, but they weren't fertile....) Anyway, there were two chicken eggs in the mix and today as I was repairing a hole in the coop roof, I saw a broken egg shell next to where she has been planting her butt for a few weeks. We got her on St.\Patty's day. As i was putting all the girls to bed for the night, I lifted her slightly and heard a Chirp and saw feathers. Houston, we have a chick. There is at least one. I did not bother her too much and vacated the coop, as I have probably STRESSED her out a bit with the roof repairs...
So.... What should I do now?? I plan on putting a waterer in the coop. and maybe a feeder (egg carton) so they can eat easier. I have a 5 gallon bucket for the rest of the flock so I think they need something easier to eat from. Will the other girls and 2 ducks eat it all out of the chick feeder?
I know Barbie (Momma) will keep them warm and safe. We do have one rooster, but Caitlin (thought is was a girl at first) is pretty mellow.

Totally new to hatched in our coop chicks. All advise will be appreciated!!

TIA.

I'd separate moma and the chick away from the rest of your flock (Especially from the ducks) for a couple of weeks when the chick is old enough to keep up with broody and run away from bigger birds. You'll also need some chick feed instead of layers feed or whatever you're feeding your birds now. So i'd suggest picking up a bag at a local feed store that should last you for a while.

I always like to put a circle of fencing around the new mom and clutch for a week or two to give the chicks some time to grow stronger. I use chick feeders and waterers. The whole flock gets switched to a non medicated starter grower with a separate bowl of oyster shells.

Thanks all!! I had some 1/2" hardware cloth leftover from my original Brooder crate. I used it to make a cage for Momma (Barbie) and the one chick so far (Skipper:jumpy. Reused the feeder and waterer from the brooder as well.
It fit right under the poop trays in the corner where Momma had the nest. The ducks originally had it, but the eggs never made it... So Barbie took over. You go Girl!!
