I just discovered that one of our Turkens is a BROODY hen, (Tried to sit on duck eggs, but they weren't fertile....) Anyway, there were two chicken eggs in the mix and today as I was repairing a hole in the coop roof, I saw a broken egg shell next to where she has been planting her butt for a few weeks. We got her on St.\Patty's day. As i was putting all the girls to bed for the night, I lifted her slightly and heard a Chirp and saw feathers. Houston, we have a chick. There is at least one. I did not bother her too much and vacated the coop, as I have probably STRESSED her out a bit with the roof repairs...
So.... What should I do now?? I plan on putting a waterer in the coop. and maybe a feeder (egg carton) so they can eat easier. I have a 5 gallon bucket for the rest of the flock so I think they need something easier to eat from. Will the other girls and 2 ducks eat it all out of the chick feeder?
I know Barbie (Momma) will keep them warm and safe. We do have one rooster, but Caitlin (thought is was a girl at first) is pretty mellow.
Totally new to hatched in our coop chicks. All advise will be appreciated!!
TIA.
