(1) I am new to raising chickens... and got my first chicks just before my birthday in June.
(2) Currently I have 3 Chicks, at 8 weeks old, and will be picking up another round at the end of next month.
(3) I have Silkies, since I have wanted silkies for almost 20 years, it was finally time and my husband caved! : ]
(4) So far my favorite part about raising backyard chickens has been that they are hilarious to watch and the whole family has enjoyed the experience so far!
(5) Some of my other hobbies are gardening, photography, painting, Pinterest, and watching many of the Real House Wives shows.
(6) I am a Military wife of 23 years, and we have a combined family with 3 kids, all are just now reaching adulthood and aren't really kids anymore. I live in Murrieta California and have always been an animal lover, my husband, well... he has to be convinced that animals are great! But a few have worked their way into his heart. I have a long standing history of bringing home strange pets, from turtles to tarantulas! And my dream is to have a farm full of animals. I also have volunteered in philanthropy for a number of years and am a part of The Mustang Club of San Diego, and we love living out here in the Temecula wine country!
(7) I found BYC as a reference from a chicken lady friend! I'm excited about BYC, and I'll admit a little intimidated too! It's almost like Facebook for chickens!
