I recently noticed my girl Quackers had a little bit of discharge in her eyes. It seems to have gotten worse and it not accumulated and crusty around her eyes. She’s been in the coop a lot with the freezing weather we’ve had, and I’m wondering if this is my first experience with foamy eye or something else? She acts fine, and she has a bucket of water deep enough to dunk her head in that a change the water in daily. It’s beyond freezing currently so I can’t provide her with a pool to swim in at the moment. I have vet rx and ocufloxacin eye drops. Should I try either of those? I can’t seem to find if ocuflox is safe in ducks or not?

What are all her systpoms? Is she wheezing or anything? She could have a severe cold or respitory infection if she does. I would make sure she has the ability to clean her eye or make sure the eye stays clean. Thats an important key. If you clean her eye, clean twice a day.

I have used vet rx before and that helps but its possible she may need an antibiotic depending on all the symptoms she shows.

Its looks like foamy eye to me. I had a duck that would get severe allergies and had foamy eye discharge all the time. His eye would crust to and that is just from the gunk they are trying to clean our their eye drying up.

They can also get this from their eye getting scratched or debris in the eye.
