My name is Charone and I am new to the chicken world. We got our first 10 chicks this spring. We ended up with one barred rock, one Ameraucana mix, one leghorn, and a few reds. One of our chicks died within the first few days (it was a little runt) and one got killed by the neighbor dog. Our chickens are now in their own coop with a fenced in run. We still have to put a door in on the fenced part, but we can get into the coop to give them food and water and check for eggs. No eggs yet, but hopefully soon! I have 3 little girls, my oldest is 4, the middle is 3 and the youngest is 1. They really enjoy having the chickens and the chickens don't seem to mind them. I was a bit suprised this week to find out that my leghorn hen turned out to be a rooster! Not quite sure how this will work out, but things are ok so far! He used to be named Daisy, now his name is Bruiser! Hoping to get some great advice and information from this site! Thanks!!
