new chicken breed

overall my goal is to create something visually striking

pretty feathers and feather feet
Considering how many chicken breeds already have pretty feathers and feather feet, I think it might make more sense to develop a different color variety of a breed that already exists.

A new breed should have different traits than existing breeds, and the difference should not be only in the color of the feathers.

Of course you can work on any breeding project you want, but if it looks like a different color of a known breed, that is what most people are going to consider it, no matter what you try to tell them.

i might have to introduce langshan genetics to achieve my desired posture and tail for the webstervelder.
i actually scrapted the lavender its going to be black laced blue
In that case, you might look at the pictures here:

I think that looks very much like what you are describing. So you might be able to save quite a few years of work by starting with birds like those, and then you might just need to refine the details if they aren't quite right.

My idea is more like this but better

To see what colors are actually possible, I would recommend using the chicken calculator. Also, I'm guessing from your typing mannerisms that you're probably young and relatively new to this. That's not a problem, but once you stop using chatgpt and take the time to learn these things yourself, you'll greatly benefit. I would recommend looking at genetics threads on this website to get a better feel for things. @Amer has an amazing thread on genetics that I think makes a really good start. Making a new chicken breed is a very ambitious task, new breeds get accepted relatively rarely, and it tends to take a long time. If chicken breeding is something you're very passionate about, I'd recommend a less extensive breeding project to start out with, such as working on a new color variety for an existing breed. This way, you can see if it's for you without committing to multiple years/decades of work.

you are correct in saying that im young as i am 17 however i was only using chat gpt to try and get an idea of how it might look but clearly it was not accurate. Additionally i do understand for the most part how genetics for example blue doesnt breed true offspring will be 50% blue 25 % black 25% splash. i also know that theres also all whole of genetic stuff i cant list off the top of my head

i think i will start figuring out color breeding before i try to make a new breed
That sounds like a good idea.

Experience and knowledge are definitely helpful when you are deciding what you want to have, whether it already exists, whether it is possible for it to exist, and how to create it.

I do not know if that is possible or not.

Have you actually raised any chickens yet?
If so, have you had any with feathered feet?

If yes, you probably do know what you are getting into.
If no, I strongly recommend that you try raising a few, before you commit yourself to a multi-year project to breed chickens with feathers on their feet.

I have had a few chickens with feathered feet-- only a few, because I rapidly got tired of foot feathers with mud or poop in them. Some people like feathered feet, and some people seem to manage to keep them clean, but my birds seemed to be very attracted to every possible bit of poop or mud, so the foot feathers were often gross. Foot feathers also make it hard to see legbands (which are otherwise a handy way to identify individual chickens for a breeding project or any other reason). I now have a very strong preference for chickens with no feathers on their feet.
