New Chicken Condo (Coop)

This is a coop that my husband and son made for my bebe's. Any thoughts on how to maybe improve on the design.

Looks great. If you have predators i would add a heavier layer of wire. Chicken wire is good to keep chickens in but not predators out. I used 2x4 welded wire with 1/2" hardware cloth. My neighbors 50 lb. dog has tried it and couldn't get thru it. Good Luck and welcome to BYC

I have 9 (4 of the chicks are frizzles) 8-9 week old bantam chicks. That number will be going down since it looks like I have more roosters than hens

. The run is about 6'x 3' and the inside is about 3 1/2x 3 1/2.

That is really cute! How long did it take them to build it? If you have picks of the building process you should enter it in the Summer coop contest. Check out the rules in the sticky thread at the top of this section of the forum.

Are you going to free range them? It might be a little snug for that many chickens but if you are going to let them out during the day i think it should be fine.

It's very cute. Looks like dh put alot of thought into it.
