Well I took the plunge seven weeks ago and bought 27 chicks fm Eric at the Pampered Pullet farm in Ocala, Florida. Great folks for anyone in the central Florida area. My coop is actually four feet above part of the run and I have a ramp I lower each morning to give them access to the run. I am using the natural sand in the area for the run. The chickens have been in the run now for their 2nd week and it is really getting dusty. All around the perimeter of the fence I have a thick layer of dust. I had plans of sitting on my five gallon bucket with them each day to get them used to me but with all the dust I'm not sure if I want to do that now. Several months ago Tractor supply had a sale on their bales of wood chips and I bought a butt-load. I was thinking maybe if I put down a layer of wood chips over the sand in the run it might cut down a bit on the dust? Any advice/feedback? I notice the medicated feed I am using is really dusty so maybe once on layer feed the dust might go down a bit? Other than that these gals/guys are a laugh a minute. Cabbage seems to be their fav treat. Thanks for any input.

Sorry I can't help with the question (I had no idea you could use sand as a floor), but I am definitely going to try a cabbage treat with my chicks!
