Hey everyone! Recently my family and I moved to an 8 acre farm here in NC. The property needs a lot of work but we’ve set up 1/2 an acre of land as an area for chickens.
I’m new to keeping chickens and am currently incubating 15 eggs (3 silkies, 12 French black copper Marans) they’re 9 days old so far and all are developing perfectly. I think I lucked out with them all being fertile.
I also have 6 button quail eggs incubating.
I’m not at all new to keeping and handling animals though! I own a variety of reptiles and amphibians, goats and horses, fish, and a South American coatimundi. I’ve raised and released injured and orphaned birds as well (starlings, house finches, and scarlet tanagers).
I’m very interested in using my land for more exotic species of birds, like nicobar pigeons, eventually. For now, I’m going to focus on my chickens and see if I can successfully hatch these eggs.
