Really there aren't many dogs that are harmless. Even if they just circle a run and bark at the birds they can stress them enough to cause their death

I have to agree with this. Dogs are predators and chickens act like prey. I had a dog that went from vaguely interested in birds and rabbits to actually killing or trying to kill them. He could take birds out of the air!

I feel totally blessed. I've had chickens for about thirteen years and never have I had a problem with MY dogs; I once had a neighbor dog take out some FOR SPORT. I returned the dog to the neighbor for burial. A chicken killing dog is NOT tolerated in Panama.
