So I am new to the world of raising chickens, and have been given the task of making my father's new tree farm self sustainable. My family is originally from Greece and all were farmers, even now most of my aunts/uncles & cousins there still have at least a hundred chickens. We have small children and I believe they should have an education on raising food, caring for animals, and should know how to feed themselves. This was not something my mom or dad tried to teach me because they were just trying to make it in America & get us through school. I'm a "roots" person and like to do things the old school way because usually it's better. I cloth diaper, breast fed my kids, and lots of other "crunchy" mom choices but am making the moves to become self sufficient.

I am excited to see other members from Pinellas County and can't wait to introduce some fluffy chicks to my little ones soon.

Do you know byc's sister site SelfSufficient? You might enjoy it there too!
All the best for raising your chickens, and I hope you find all the info you need on the site. See you round! :frow
