New Chicken Family In NC

Hello from Lincolnton, NC. My family and I are new to the whole backyard chicken family. Our coop construction began yesterday. We are very excited. My husband and I have a 10 year old son and 3 year old daughter. This will definately be a "family affair". Hoping to have 5-6 layers and I'm looking at Speckled Sussex and Americaunas as my picks at this point. Based on my research they "should" get along together....I hope.

I just began raising chickens a few months back! I started with 6 ameraucanas,
but i ordered 6 wyandottes, and 6 plymouth rocks so my flock will triple in size by next week!
