Hello, my name is Agi and I'm so happy to have this resource to help us learn how to care for our new flock.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We just got our chickens a week ago!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Four hens and one rooster.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I'm pretty sure they're Rhode Island Reds.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are just so endlessly fascinating. We've pulled all of our deck chairs out to the chicken coop and have spent hours just sitting around the run watching them! All the kids are involved and interested.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Lots of reading, puzzles, and we used to travel quite a bit, before Covid-19.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a tax preparer and my husband is a wealth manager. We have four kids, ages 8 to 16, and one dog. We live on a couple of acres just outside the city limits, so not quite rural, but not quite suburban either.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
My friend and neighbor suggested BYC as soon as she learned that we were getting chickens, and I'm so glad. I've read so much already and of course I have so many questions!
