Here we are, day 4 of my chickens doing what chickens do! Super excited walking out this morning to check the boxes [I open the run at 6:30 am and then let them free range between 10-11 so that everyone has the chance to decide about laying for the day
Today I was blessed with 2 hard shell eggs, 1 soft shell egg and 1 splattered soft shell from the roost
still beautiful and can’t wait for more! Didn’t think I would ever like chickening this much as I was afraid of chickens prior to having them.

Days and Weeks had gone by when I thought “maybe” I should be getting more eggs.. especially with 12 large hens, wonder why. Kept reading articles that it could be because they are new layers OR they have a secret nest somewhere where they go and lay their egg for the day.. welp, it wasn’t the first one!! I heard the laying song and it wasn’t coming for my coop! I went barefoot through the yard and snuck up on some thorn bushes with a Bard Rock sitting right in the middle. I reached in and grabbed her and then noticed what was under her! Oh my Lanta! You little turd! So, long story, Kinda short, all Ladies are now in the coop correctional facility awaiting trial! No option of parole!

Can’t wait to see more colors We have some Easter Eggers that are not ready to lay yet. I laughed way to hard when 27 of my birds all lay brown eggs [all different ages so only 12 are currently laying age] and the other 6 are Easter eggers No white eggs here

We have 6 more eggs! Someone was slacking today but it was also a rainy poop day, so I don’t blame them!
my hands were too small with Extra Crispys egg! She is laying the JUMBO ones! Wowweeee!! She will certainly be walking funny tomorrow! So instead, I made my husband help with my daily egg photo
Crispy is my only chicken that refuses the nesting box, but instead lays her egg in the corner of the coop in all the feathers from her peers She is also our largest and friendliest bird! Love the coloring of her egg as it goes from light brown the a little darker brown. She is certainly living up to her Bard Rock characteristics!
