Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! I've noticed the same things with pullets, they often tend to get cranky and rather more spooky or wild right before they start laying, then when they start laying they will get friendlier/calmer over the next few months ... figured it is just their hormones getting leveled out. Birds in general also seem to get calmer as they get older, even if you don't try and make pets out of them.
 
I hope so. I've got this one young Brahma who quite flighty and a bit aggressive. The hormones must be going mad in her. I'm hoping she'll calm down a lot once she matures.
