Hello everyone, I have been checking out BYC for a little over a month. Just found it while surfing the net. Well I joined and here I am and finally had sometime to introduce myself.
How did we become new to chickens? Well....My neighbors took a trip last summer and asked us to feed the chicks and my son (which was 7 at the time) about had a fit. Everyday he was in that coop holding one or trying to see the babys. Morning and evening just looking for stuff to feed them. he even wanted to take one to his baseball game and let it stay in the dug out. Man did I have a time trying to tell him we can't do that. Well long story short what did he ask Santa for Christmas? Chickens! Chickens Just chickens! And me I am a animal lover so use to have horses but quit messing with them BUT still have a big barn with 6 stalls. Well guess what 3 of them are now chicken coops. We went and got some silkies, cochins, game bantam and orpingtons. We went a little crazy but we are really enjoying them. We spend every minute we can with them. Even went back and got more chickens. I will definetly need some advice. We read your forum about everynight and have learn quite a bit.
My mom has always had chickens but I have never messed with them till now. We have about 30 total.
I am the mother of wonderful boys 28, 24 and 8 & 1- 23 yr old beautiful daughter. I have been married for 10 years. I also have a few more animals 4 beautiful cats all fixed, 3 dogs and some fish! I been a project accountant for 22 years.
I have silkies, cochins, game bantams, orpingtons, easter eggers some of those are frizzles.
