My family is somewhat new to chickens - we have family members who have farm chickens, but we are new to backyard chickens!
We have 4 Plymouth Rock chicks that we are loving. We love to talk to them and we have one in particular that definitely looks like she might become the resident lap chicken. Looking forward to having them run around in the backyard and doing lots of research to make sure we raise the healthiest and happiest chickens possible. Also, looking forward to enjoying our own eggs!
Although we live in an urban neighborhood we are lovers of the outdoors, nature and all animals. We have 2 dogs, who are well trained and being introduced slowly. We have 3 fish and now 4 chickens. We have two teenagers who finally convinced us to take on this responsibility and so far after a couple of weeks they are still helpful and interested. Both my husband and I are in IT and work from home so the chickens wont be alone often. We are working to build a good, safe, functional coop and run in the backyard for them.
In all of my research on the best food and environment, etc I came across the BYC forum and wanted to join so I can increase my knowledge and have trustworthy resources to help raise happy and healthy chickens as an extension of our family.
Thanks for including me!
