Thanks! We are settling in... millions of questions but this is such a great resource. I also think I have a new worry everyday.. today's worry was my little jumped into the pool. No noises, no wing flapping, but i grabbed her out and tried to dry her off and cuddled with her. Are there any side effects I should keep an eye out for?

Welcome to BYC.

The worst of the side effects from her jumping into the pool are drowning. Do you have a way to fence/cover it so no accidental deaths. Pools are considered an attractive nuisance in many places and MUST BE FENCED IN WITH LOCKING GATE, ETC.

If a child dies in your pool you would be held responsible. BTW chickens do not swim, they can probably float until their feathers get saturated with water and then surely drown.

They don't free range without us outside and this was a good lesson for me to not turn my back on the littles. My big took her dive in and has since been terrified of the pool and in love with my husband since he saved her! LOL. I will look into a way to fence off the area of the pool they get near but I don't have a lot of options.. Time to get creative lol!

I'm surprised no one has created chicken life jackets yet. It would certainly help those that accidentally take a dip. Sometimes a chicken thinks they can fly over a pool but,it's bigger than they thought and they take dunking.
