New Chicken Mama

Good morning!
My name is Shannon and I am from Upstate South Carolina. I am married with three kids and this is our first flock! Our chicks are a month old. We have three Barred Rocks and three Tetra Browns. We wanted to start our own backyard chicken flock for the eggs. We spend nearly $5/dozen for farm fresh eggs from our local co-op and thought it would be more fun and cost effective to raise a flock of our own. I never dreamed that our chicks would be so social and each have a distinctive personality. We've fallen in love! It is a family affair, everyone is helping out in some way to help care for and raise the chicks. It's been a great experience so far!

I look forward to learning more and getting to know everyone!
