I am in Massachusetts and new to chickens. We got them to help my 5 year old get over his fear of animals.
  1. (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We have had our chickens for 2 weeks and I believe they vary in age slightly.
  2. (2) How many chickens do you have right now? We got 3

    (3) What breeds do you have? RIR, Buff Orpington, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte

    (4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? A friend introduced me to the site

    (5) What are some of your other hobbies? I enjoy knitting, gardening, and being creative

    (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I had small birds growing up and enjoy having some birds again!

:welcome DanYellRobi! We have lots of friendly folks here to chat with, answer your questions, act as sounding boards, or just offer a virtual hug when you need one. Here are some links to get you started on the site. There is a lot of good information here! And good luck with your three new fluffy babies. I think you picked a good species to help your young son to learn to respect but not fear animals. :thumbsup
