(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I just started this chicken journey and am so excited! I just got my first flock 5 weeks ago!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 8

(3) What breeds do you have? 5 Lavender Orpingtons and 3 Diamond Duchesses

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Not sure yet but I love watching my girls grow!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Music, gardening.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I work in marketing in a corporate office. I have a wife, 2 year old son, and two mutts!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :DGoogle search! I’ve known about BYC for about 5 weeks now and I’ve found helpful information here.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Have you seen our Learning Center yet? There are tons of articles in there written by our members. Something in there I'm sure you'd find helpful.

We're glad you're here!
Thank you! I’ll check it out!

I honestly wasn’t even the one who was most excited about getting chickens, but once we got them home, they became a bit of an obsession, hah! I am finding it a nice break from my busy day-to-day work life, and I enjoy just watching them, holding them, petting them, and feeding them out of my hand. I’ve gotten rather attached!

This same thing happened with my hubby. Now, he's building stuff for them, holds them, talks to them, takes care of them when I can't or don't feel so hot, etc. It's endearing. ❤️

:frow Hi and welcome to BYC! Addictive, aren't they, the little rascals! Yours are adorable. I have some lavender Easter Eggers (EE) and think they are very beautiful. I am not familiar with Diamond Duchesses, but they look a lot like Dominiques, which I have on order and also find quite attractive. So many varieties! Are you familiar with the dangerous disease known as Chicken Math? All I will say is, figure out how big of a coop and run you think you'll need - then double or triple it! (Runs away, laughing)
