New chicken mom from sunny S. Florida!!

Thank you and will do!! Luckily this house has a ton if windows which we plan in using hardware cloth on for security. Definitely need change hinges and make modifications. Another thing I need to do is seal the seams between the roof slats to keep the water out. So, lots of small tweaking to do. I'll keep you all posted once I actually get rolling.
Use black jack roof sealer in the caulk tubes and seat it with your finger. Either wear latex gloves or clean the tar off your fingers with a little gas then soap and water.

That is going to make a beautiful coop! If you run power to it I would suggest putting a fan in there for the real hot weather, also buy breeds that can handle the heat. I have a barn fan for my chickens and live in Minnesota, summers do get pretty hot here but the humidity is the worst. Most heavy breeds can not take extreme heat. I would also locate the house and run in some shade if you have it. Would also make sure there is good drainage where ever you put the run. When you use bedding for your new chicks make sure it is not so fine they can eat it also check for pasty butt when they arrive.

Got it!! A solar powered fan is on my list for sure. Unfortunately, I have no shade and have to get creative. Planning on growing passion fruit vine which is FAST growing to offer shade. I also wanted to paint the inside which is a dark treated cedar. What do you recommend for painting?? I want to go light to reflect the sun. For the flooring I was thinking of rubber or epoxy to keep things dry.

I use two coats of Porch and Floor paint and it's holding up great.
For the walls, I'd prime with Kilz Max then paint with exterior grade latex in satin or gloss.
You can also buy shade cloth.
