Hi everyone -

I've been a chicken mom in East Aurora, NY for 1 week today. I couldn't have done it without all of the information that I have obtained here.
My husband Mark and I currently have 2 Barred Rocks named Star and Lucy along with 2 Buff Orpingtons (we think) named Nugget and Stella. We have 4 more coming in 2 weeks.
Never in a million years would I have imagined the absolute joy i get from taking care of our girls. They were 10 days old when we adopted them from Clydes a local feed store. They have already outgrown their first home and my husband had to get a much larger container for them I can't believe how quickly they have grown.
Thank you everyone for all of the advise and pictures to help us newbie parents.

Welcome to BYC - and the chicken obsession -- so very glad you've joined us! It is truly amazing just how quickly these little fuzz balls grow and change (and steal your heart), isn't it?

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
