What brand of incubator are you using? Depending on your location, you can adjust the humidity in your bator according to the ambient humidity at your location. We shoot for 99.5° on temp but 100° is close enough, they will just hatch a few hours earlier...with shipped eggs it's a good idea to let them settle before setting. In cold weather it's ok to let them sit in a safe place at room temp. If it's hot weather, go ahead and place them in your bator with the turner off, if using one. The reason for this is, eggs will start incubation at temps of 68°, most of the time when shipped in hot weather the eggs have already started incubating, so if you let them sit a room temp, you have just killed that developing embyro! HTHThey did rest for 24 hours before I put them in the incubator. I did't run the incubator for 24 hours prior only 6. When I placed eggs temp was 100 degrees with 49% humidity. I guess it is all a learning experience!

Welcome from New Orleans. We have only hatched using a broody hen. Perhaps an older hen or 2 of a breed that tends toward broodiness might help if you wish to hatch your own flock. Also agree that a local person who sells hatching eggs may be better than mailing off for them. IMHO Good luck with whatever you decide is in you and your flocks best interest.
