Hi! I'm Nanci and we love in Oregon. We bought a new home in November, and it came with an amazing chicken coop. I've wanted chickens for a long time, so it was very exciting for me to have this as part of our property.
We just ordered our first chicks, and we'll be picking them up His Wednesday. We will have 3 Rhode Island Reds and 3 Barred Plymouth Rock.
I've been checking out all the great information on BackYardChickens.com, but I waited until I knew for sure that we were committing to being chicken owners until joining.
My husband is a retired carpenter, and we've been married for over 30 years. We have four awesome young adult kids with a future daughter in law coming this summer!
I love to cook and see plus I work with my mom in our machine quilting business. I also have an Etsy shop.
I'm super excited about being a new chicken mom!

I am pleased you delurked and hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
