(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? New to chickens and loving them! Our chicks are about 6 weeks old.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 7,
(3) What breeds do you have? 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Australorps, 2 Barred Rocks, and 1 Salmon Favarolle (one of our BR’s appears to be a rooster)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? We love watching their cute personalities and interacting with them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, composting, reading, hiking
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We have a cat (awesome mouser), and a yellow Labrador retrievers (she already guards the chickens dutifully). I am a piano teacher and concert pianist. I love music, and I’m not ashamed to say that I sing to my chickens!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC through searches about caring for my new chicks. I always get good advice from these threads.
