I have eight 10-week old Golden Sex Link chicks. One little chick looks like she’s got a long upper beak, a really small lower beak and below that it looks like wattles under the skin. She’s 1/3 the size of the rest of her tribe. She’s drinks pretty well, but has issues getting food. I have clipped her beak a bit but it seems to grow back. I posted on BYC FB page and someone said her jaw looks deformed and possibly no tongue. I have tried making more of a liquidy food but she won’t take from a syringe. I’m not sure what else to try. I’ve attached a pic that I hope with explanation.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I have a similar bird, now a hen, that started out crossbeak, now isn't as much, but just has a very fast-growing top beak. We use one of those fingernail dremel kits you can get from Chewy or Amazon.

Her dry crumbles are in a deep dish, and they may look like they're eating, but if you look close, 3/4 of it falls back out. That's why they need wet sloppy crumbles in a deep dish so their beak doesn't hit the bottom.

We're glad you're here!

I noticed that she does scoop a lot out. I put some wet mash stuff in a bowl & she wouldn’t touch it — but the others ate it up. I’ll put it in a deeper dish & put her in my herself.
