Hi All,
Hubby and I grew up on small "farms" - I know how to milk a cow and he can ride a horse like no one's business - well, that was then and this is now.
Our 3 kids are sorta self-sufficient so we were looking for a little "excitement" on a Sunday and were perusing the aisles of our local Tractor Supply - don't judge, it's how we roll! I was taken in by the "cheeping" of the baby chicks who were there for the "chick days." We were sucked in by their cuteness and our "needs."
We were back by Friday and picked up 4 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Golden Laced Wyandotte's & 2 Black Sex Links. All pullets - or so we thought - we found out "Big Momma" was actually "Big Poppa" and he now lives on a real 16 acre horse farm not our 1 acre in South Jersey. So now there are 7.
We just built an extension for our girls and soon will be winterizing the coop and run.

:welcome

So nice to have you here with us! Two things about chickens...you don't have to milk them and no one's going to be riding them so they should be easier to care for.

You selected some lovely breeds and will be getting lots of eggs from them when it comes time for that.

Thanks for joining us!

G’Day from down under MrandMrsAbateJr :frow Welcome!

Thank You for a fun introduction which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
