New chicken momma

All our hens were laying up until this week. We were getting 4 eggs a day. This week only 3 eggs a day. Then found this where they perch and sleep. A shell-less, yolk less egg with a tail. All hens are acting normal, eating & drinking hanging out together and look healthy. One of them did recently fall from a 4 foot distance. Not sure that has anything to do with this. They get a good hen laying feed, fresh fruit and free range so they get plenty of greens and grass. Also starting giving them a trail mix of cracked corn, meal worm, fly large and sunflower seeds. After I found the shell-less egg Istatting giving them oyster shells as well.

Looks like a shell-less egg. You can read more about them here: Common egg quality. problems. One shell-less egg is okay, but if you continue getting them there may be a health issue.

Welcome to BYC! A lack of calcium can result in shell-less eggs. What you can do is after you use their eggs is you can feed the shells back to them because the shells have calcium in them. Or you can crush them up and put in whatever scraps you might be feeding them. Make sure their feed also has a high amount of calcium in it as well. Hope this helps some. 😊
