new chicken momma

My name is Jackie. I've wanted chickens for the past 3 years, finally I coerced my husband into letting me have my own flock. He didn't take me serious until I showed up with what was supposed to be 6, but ended up being 12 chickens. I purchased 6 red pullets (hens) & 6 featured breed (straight run) which I forgot what the breed was. He built me a chicken coop on what used to be my raised garden beds on top of a hill on our property. The plants weren't doing so well, and most of the material was donated from our family members. It was his Mother's Day gift to me from him and our children. This shall be a pretty exciting adventure!
