New Chicken Owner from CT

I'm from New Hartford. At what point do you think it's safe to put pullets out in the coop without heating in CT? Mine are about 5 weeks old. I'm thinking not for at least another 3 weeks, but I'd really like to get them out of my basement. I'm sure they'd enjoy the extra room too.

Mine are 5 weeks too (my first weeks of experience so don't take me too seriously!) I'm in MA and we moved them, and their heat lamp, sawdust, food and water out of the basement to the coop we made from an old dog house a few nights ago. We don't have the outdoor run made yet so they stay locked up in the coop unless we take them out in the yard on a sunny afternoon...which they love. We crack the roof during the day so they get some daylight and don't get too hot. We put wire mesh under the roof so we can crack it or lift if off if need be and still keep them safe from predators. I look forward to when we can get rid of the heat lamp and open the door so they can go outside on their own. Good luck!

If theyve feathered out and theres ample amount of wood chips and the night doesnt get below 50 you can do it now...they huddle up together and keep warm...even if it goes alittle below 50... Mine were out at 6 weeks with 45 degree nights and all well...It gets annoying when they've outstayed their basement welcome lol lol :) :)
