Welcome. Thank you for adopting instead of hatching. There are so many chickens that need good homes. I live in Mountville- not sure how far from you I am. I opted as many do here, to convert a shed to a coop. It is easiest and fastest. You will need to add some ventilation and then cover those holes securely with 1/2 inch hardware cloth. Then it is only adding some nesting boxes and roosting bars. Also, your ground predators if you are in my area will be racoons. For me, aerial predators are a big issue - black vultures and hawks. I have a 20x20 foot run with hardware cloth sides and an apron and a hard top. I also have a hardware cloth fence around my backyard fence and hawk netting. This gives them another 50x60 feet of safe space.
