Hi all. Glad to find this forum! Looks like a great resource.

We are finishing up a couple of coops and are getting the rest of our starter birds today.

Picked up 7 Barred Rock hens yesterday and probably gonna get the other 8 birds they had today.
It's late in the season, but these are young birds that laid their very first eggs 2 days ago. They look real good. Clean, active, bright eyed, etc.

We're also picking up around 10-15 guineas today as well.

Looking forward to learning a lot more here!

If anyone is in the Wichita/Rose Hill area in KS, I'd be interested in talking more about all these birds and other self-sufficiency topics...

Thanks!
Dirk

Be sure to check out your state's thread if you have not already done so. It is a great way to connect with people in your area. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/248925/consolidated-kansas

Hi :welcome Dirk

Glad you could join the flock! That sounds a lovely flock you are putting together there. I've not kept guinea before but we do have a couple down the farm where I keep the horse and they sure have a loud alarm call!! Drop by the guinea section for all the chat about them, here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/45/guinea-fowl

Wishing you the very best of luck with your growing flock in the future.

Enjoy BYC :frow

Nice to meet your Dirk, hope you enjoy Backyard chickens as much as we do.
